“What’s your go-to coffee order?”

Steph and John’s story began on October 17, 2023, when they matched on Bumble. Since Bumble requires women to message first, Steph sent the opening line. At the time, she was on night duty in medical school, which worked out well with John’s time zone.

John was originally looking for someone in the Philippines to show him around when he visited in January. They started making plans to visit UP and Intramuros together.

“After I show you around, will you just forget about me?”

That question changed everything. What started as a casual chat turned into something more—enough to keep them up for hours on video calls and messages.

When they finally met in January 2024, some plans happened, and some didn’t, but what mattered was that they enjoyed being with each other. And when John left, they both realized they didn’t want to be apart.

After months of missing each other, they reunited in September 2024. On a trip with friends to Baguio, John proposed.
